Although it was winter time, it was warm enough for me to go outside. I was in the driveway, when she was walking across the driveway and she said, "Hi Sweetie". I noticed that her hair was down for a change, and it looked so nice. And Oh, how I wanted to follow and talk to her. But I didn't know if she would be able to understand me. So it was "hi" every time we saw each other, especially in the spring of 1994. I felt so comfortable and relaxed with her.
In June of 1994, I did not see the mail lady for a few weeks. As I was riding my electric wheelchair up and down the sidewalk, I thought to myself, "well, another good mail carrier is gone". But to my "GREAT SURPRISE" as I was riding down the other side, I saw her delivering mail! And I made up my mind right then, that I was going to talk to her. We smiled at one another, and she must of had been reading my mind, for she told me that she had been on vacation for 2 weeks.
I said, "Oh". Then I said, "What is your name?" She said, "Terri." She saw my name on the back of my chair. But I knew from then on, we would become friends! I went home and made Terri a card on my computer. And from then on, we started writing letters to each other.
